The Branches of the Military

You don’t have to sign up for active duty. You can sign on with the military in the Guard and Reserve units. You can choose from the Air Force, the Navy, the Army or the Marine Corps. These branches are under the Department of Defenses’ jurisdiction. If the sea is your passion, join the Coast Guard. In peacetime you will answer to the Department of Homeland Security and during wartime you will report to the Department of Defense via the Navy.

   Aircrew Flight Equipment Job?
   On the Air Force website, it states they prepare equipment like parachutes, survival kits, helmets, and other items. But it also states they train crew members how to use the equipment and weapons, how often does this happen? Do they really sit around all day sewing parachutes and floatation devices or is there more fun in the job?

   I just cross-trained from this job and held a 7-level in it. Some duties do require you to sew and repair equipment. You also teach crew-members how to use the equipment, fit and adjust all flight equipment to each individual member, and even teach survival skills to aircrew members in the water and woods. This happens only a few times a year as far as the survival instructing goes. 80% of this job is inspecting equipment over and over, the other 20% is what makes the job fun. Overall, OK job. I crossed to be a TACP because AFE just wasnt fulfilling what I want from the military and TACP I think will. Its a good job, you get to go to Combat survival training, water survival, even get lucky like me and go to Arctic Survival School. Its what you make of it but all jobs in the AF are that way.

   contents of a military survival kit?
   I would like to know the contents of issued survival kits for the: Army, SAS, Air Force, marines, and Navy Seals.
   Is there a website of where i can see the contents of issued survival kit essentials of what they carry to the field, and not the old survival kits from Vietnam or earlier.

   my dad was in the air force idk-2002 he had a knife (really sharp and sick) something that shoots something similar to fireworks in case he’s lost or went down using the parachute he shoots it, a parachute and thats all i know
