Home First Aid Kits

No matter how safe you think your home may be accidents can still happen. While most accidents are minor and many injuries require little more than a sterile bandage and little TLC having Home first Aid kits are still a good idea. While you can't stock your first aid kit like a hospital emergency room having at least some useful medical supplies on hand just may help save someone's life if the need arises.

Home First Aid Kits, should be well stocked with a few common medical supplies that can be used to keep a person as comfortable and as pain free as possible until help arrives or until you get that person into an emergency room. At a minimum, you are going to want to be staunch bleeding, immobilize a limb, and be able to clean and bandage a simple cut. Here are the main things you should consider keeping in a home emergency kit.

First Aid Book- It is difficult to think in an emergency so having a good first aid book that walks you through medical emergencies from stopping blood loss to what to do when someone is choking is the first thing your home first aid kit should contain. While you can often find substitutes for some of the actual supplies, there isn't any substitute for the knowledge you may need.

Home Survival Kits

Assorted Bandages- All different sizes and shapes from square band-aids to small butterfly band-aids.

Hydrogen peroxide- Hydrogen peroxide is inexpensive and can serve as a wound cleaner helping to keep infection at bay.

Aluminum foil blanket- An aluminum foil blanket folds up small and can be used both to cover someone to help keep them from going into shock and to apply pressure to large bleeding wound as you won't want your hands to come in direct contact with the wound.

Home Survival Kits

Some other items include:
Various Sized Gauze pads
Antibacterial cream
roll of adhesive tape
Pair of rust resistant scissors
Pair of rust resistant tweezers
Plastic bags
Latex gloves
Stretch bandages
sling
Hand Sanitizer

While having a home first aid kit that contains the medical supplies listed above isn't going to be everything you need should a serious disaster occur at least you have the basic supplies to begin dealing with most normal home emergencies. This may be more important than you think because there may be situations where medical supplies become scarce and having even simple tools may increase your chances of survival.

On the other hand having the listed objects in your home and all kept together will help you to deal with most of the minor emergencies that occurs in the home easily and effortlessly. Just make sure that you keep your home first aid kits stocked at all times and you will feel better knowing that you are ready to handle life's little emergencies.

About the author: At SurvivalKitsSite, you will discover an amazing selection of low priced and excellent quality home first aid kits.

I just moved up to the mountains and have already lost power 2x due to bad weather! Im not use to this kind of weather and the locals all tell me that I need to have a emergency kit for home for when the real “bad” weather comes in for winter! So a little help please ?

  2. James Mo_ther F__ka Bong says:

Is there an Obama Anti-CHR-ist home survival kit I can purchase?

  3. Carlie Erin says:

well, i live in west virginia, and when a real cold weather storm comes, it’s good to have candles, matches, blankets, a cell phone, a battery powered heater, flashlight, and a battery powered radio. you may also need food/ water, possibly an x-tra change of clothes.

    hope i could help ya!

  4. mamadixie says:

Yes, James. It is called the bible.

  5. Mandie says:

How to make an Emergency Road-side & survival kits at home?
My family and I have to travel for the upcoming holidays. We need to know what we need to take with us and the kits are too pricey. So what do you put in a winter weather survival and road side kits???

  6. saywhat? says:

What do you have in your home survival kit,do you have a portable kit?
I just want to see if I have all I need in mine Thanks.

  7. Dave J says:

This is a subject I know very well as I write on,
lecture on, and teach survival for the average
    person.

The real problem in what to put in a kit you build
is the knowledge you have as to how to properly
    use such a kit.

Also, since there can be limited space for a kit,
and/ or that you might have to carry it by hand,
the quantity of the bulk and the weight is an issue.

What you must always remember is that there
are four things you must provide for in any type
of survival situation: Food, Water, Shelter,
and Protection. The first three are self-explanatory.
However, Protection means much more than
the typical, first impression. It is a very complex
provision because it means; Protection from the
elements of nature, AND the nature of man.

Protection means clothing sufficient to handle
whatever weather that might be encountered.
It means the proper mental preparedness of
how to cope with a sudden misfortune of any
type. It also means supplies that would be
necessary to provide for what you might need
if the misfortune could last for a long while.
It doesn’t mean you must carry a firearm, or
any other type of weapon (other than a good
knife). But, it does mean you must be as
prepared mentally for any type of hazard that
can possibly befall you. I always teach,
“Expect the Best! Prepare for the Worst!
    Take what comes!”

The largest problem with people today is
that we have become so used to living in
a protected society that the imagination
does not let us even consider just how
bad our situation can become in the turn
    of a moment. We all have a will to survive;
to continue to live on. However, we just do
not imagine enough of the worst type of
situation. We never consider the possibility
to be very great. We confuse ‘possibility’
with ‘probability’. Just remember that the
possibility of anything is always 50/50.
It is the probability that may be very low,
but the possibility is still 50/50. Our own
    preparedness must remember, and heed
    this.

I will give you a list of things that you can
choose from to take. You, however, must
decide what you would most likely need
to take. I make kits for people all the time,
but I always have to take into consideration
of their level of skill, knowledge, and training.
I make small kits, but further suggest larger
types of ‘pack kits’. Even the small ones
that can be placed, or carried anywhere must
be developed for the individual. Each item is
carefully selected so as to provide the way
for a person to survive most anything, but
the skill, knowledge, and training is very
critical. I use many examples of where some
have had everything they needed to survive
a situation, but have died. They may have
had everything tangible, but lacked the
    mental preparedness to survive.

I very highly commend you for thinking of
this issue in advance. Most people do not.
I do suggest that you get a copy of a Boy
Scout Field Book as a good guide if you
lack the training for this type of situation.
There are many books out there, even one
that I have written, but the Scout Field Book
covers much to be a great help. I still use
    mine a lot.

For a small ‘Kit in a Can’ to keep with you

pack, at work, at home, under the rear se

  8. DJ says:

Several 5 gallon jugs of water ready. 1 jerry can of gas
Box 1 gear, a week of food, wind up flashlight, wind up radio, serious first aid kit inc. antibiotics, codine and small surgical kit, emergency blankets, rain gear, camp gear, blankets, knives, saws, axe, fuel, gas stove, lantern, 2way radios, maps of the region and something my father gave me years ago, some gold coins totaling several ounces (silly maybe, but it was his idea).

    Box 2 arms, 1 AK, 2 SKSs, 750rnds 7.62×39, 2ea. 9mm Brownings and 250 rnds 9mm, .357 ammo and 12gauge assorted.

All can be in the back of my off road ready suv in about 10 minutes, with the wife, some clothes and dogs, plus the .357 and 12 ga from my bedroom.

I added the SKs rifles as I have 2 young brothers-in-law nearby that would likely be part of any bugout scenario. They are trained on the use of these rifles, although they do not know why, they are teenagers and think it’s fun. The wife is a great shot, as we go out shooting for sport.

  9. lolipop_guild says:

an at home survival kit please?
ok so i am a 13 year old girl and i have an empty drawer in my dresser. so i wanted to make an at home survival kit for when i get grounded or my door gets stuck etc. so far im putting a first aid kit and water. what else?

ps i want some funny things too. also i want LOTS of options.
pps i need food to so what kind of food doesn’t go bad fast?(i don’t have any chips)

  10. Patti says:

Beef jerkey, nuts, granola bars, notebook, colored pens or pencils, puzzle book, reading books, IPOD

I’d put something in that drawer that makes noise. If I am stuck inside a room then I would want everyone outside to know it. A canned foghorn for example. Just be careful with your ears.
