Bullet wounds and burn injuries are the common type of injuries a soldier may sustain on the battlefield. Medical Kits - First Aid Kits are used by soldiers to treat wounds and injuries when there is no immediate medical attention available.

Soldiers in warzone are prone to injuries. Some of the injuries they sustain may even cost them their lives if immediate medical help is not provided. Soldiers cannot expect medical attention when they are in the thick of the action. The U.S Army has provided its soldiers with essential Medical Kits - First Aid Kits to treat themselves and fellow soldiers without the assistance of a medic. The kits provided by the U.S Army previously consisted of nothing but bandages and iodine. Soldiers can use these kits to stop bleeding and prevent infections to some extent.

Later in 2005, the U.S Army provided soldiers with updated kits. These updated kits were more specifically called Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK) by the U.S Army. The IFAK provides necessary support and care a soldier needs in modern warfare. With the help of these updated tactical Medical Kits - First Aid Kits, soldiers can stop severe bleeding, treat bullet wounds, and burn injuries. Additionally, the IFAK contains antibiotic ointments, bandages and dressings, as well as airway clearing devices. (The US ARMY IFAK does not contain water purification and neither does ours - must change!)

The updated kits were provided to soldiers serving in inhospitable areas such as arid deserts, thick jungles, and colder regions along with tactical medical gear and survival kits.
